Very delicious, like home cooked food!!

The best!! If your from Eastern North Carolina and you want some real BBQ and cant make it to Kings in Kinston stop in here!!! You wont be mad, at least I'm not disappointed...

This is a place that used to get awarded "Best of the Triangle" for BBQ. 2010 was the last time. I don't know if they have new owner since the last time I have been, but the bbq is mush, and runny. You can tell it's scooped with and ice cream scoop. I gave 2 stars because the staff was friendly and the hush puppoes are still good. But when you have BBQ in the name of the business you would expect it to be good.

Fresh food, friendly southern hospitality!!!

It was my first time ordering from there, but won't be my last! I had the BBQ chicken/ pulled pork combo with cabbage and fried okra. My grandson had the fried chicken, mac and cheese and green beans. He NEVER eats all the skin, but he did today! I would have given this five stars, but I wasn't expecting the cabbage to be spicy. Not everyone can eat spicy food. The service was great. I told the young lady who took my order that it was my first time there and asked what she would suggest. She was on point with the chicken and pulled pork.

BBQ was okay. Too much vinegar in sauce... But they do have other good food.😊

They stand there, drink and watch you wait at the window for service. If the four buttons around the window are for indication, it would be helpful to label for some customers are cordial and not obnoxious and understand if you are servicing someone else.Customer service is very important, it will not hurt to check on a car that sits patiently at your drive thru for 10 mins. Actually looked me in my eyes twice. If you have time to stand in front of drive thru window and drink you can very easy ask someone if they are ready to order. Thanks for nothing.

So, this hurts me to say, but I was disappointed here today. Not the food, but the service. I ordered 2 sandwiches. I sat down and waited a few min. 4 people were behind me, but all of them received their order before me. I went to the window and saw my catfish, but not my bbq sandwich. I have said to myself I will start reporting on service issues like this, so here we are. If I order something basic, and people behind me get served first, then something isn't right. 3 out of 5 due to service, food is good.

I’m very upset ! I ordered 1 lb barbecue, coleslaw and dozen hush puppies . My total was $12. There was 3 packs of sauce with my order. The sauce was in 2 oz containers which were only half full. I sat down to eat and put the 3 packs of sauce on the barbecue on my plate which was probably 3 ozs of barbecue. I asked for 3 more sauces and waiter told me I couldn’t get anymore sauce unless I paid for more sauce. There was no sauce on the barbecue nor any other seasoning. I can’t imagine being told that 3 ounces of sauce is suppose to fix 1 pound of dry pork. Really!! If there had been some sauce already on the pork, then I could understand. But there was no sauce on it. How awful ! I was done wrong. If the owners were on my side of the table , without a doubt, they would change the way they handle a customer with a request for more sauce . My request was not unreasonable!

Best chicken n dumplings in Durham. Competitive BBQ with a couple other choices in area. Very small portion sides when ordered with a plate/meal. Crispy perfect 'puppies. Sweet sweet tea. Call in order to pick up in store or walkup service window. Hit or miss efficiency, accuracy, and courtesy of service. Hog Heaven is a staple of Durham.

A great bbq place that also does great catfish and chicken.

We ordered and sat there 30 min and received no food. We were not the only ones. A gentleman ordered before we did and he left without getting his money back. I can say they gave us our money back as we asked for a refund. I have never had bad service before but today took the cake.

Nice family owned BBQ place with it's own personal taste. I love going to places like this. BBQ sauce is a little sweeter compared to George's sauce but quite good. Still Eastern Carolina style. I'll probably find an excuse to come back even though it is not local for me. A great place to try if you like trying different BBQ and chicken places

The food was so good that I bit my tongue, chewing so deliciously! If you come to North Carolina, Hog Heaven Bar-B-Q is a MUST!!! The catfish tastes like butter and the desserts have the true southern down home comfort.

The service was fast but the fried chicken tasted like it was either cooked in old or cheap oil. Without hot sauce it tasted bitter. I appreciate the sides being put in cups with lids so everything wouldn't be soggy by the time I got home.

I have eaten at this restaurant several times and have had great food and service each time. Today, I ordered their fried flounder platter with fried okra and mac and cheese. The flounder was seasoned and cooked perfectly and the portion sizes were just right. They have a good menu selection if you are looking for something other than BBQ. I will definitely be back!

I will be coming back for the hush puppies and mac and cheese. But the BBQ was just okay and the pork chop sandwich was tough. But the people were nice.

Best BBQ in Durham. Very polite people running the restaurant and amazing food. Hushpuppies Turnip Greens and Yams were all fantastic. Couldn't have asked for a better experience. Highly recommend this place

Great bbq and great service. Came in with a group of old retirees for lunch. Plenty of seating and ordering was quick. The food was served quickly by the waitress and we were well taken care of. Great variety of things to order and we look forward to coming back.

Food is always great! Service was great too! Only complaint is it was hot in there. The temp said it was 78 degrees inside.

I don't like hush puppies but tried them on this visit - omg delicious! Cabbage was good and seasoned but not over cooked as well as the turnip salad and pineapple cake. Pretty good overall.

Great food lovely customer service

This is your standard faire southern BBQ joint. The food is great but doesn't try and be anything special, they're just doing North Carolina cuisine the right way. The prices are very reasonable and the dine in service is great.

I just had a terrible experience at this place. I saw one of the cooks go to the bathroom and go back into the kitchen and he did NOT wash his hands. He just put gloves on. I was shocked. Who does that. Can you say hepatitis. I got my refund. Will not be going back there. I wish I had not have seen it because I liked this place.

Potential to be a pretty good rating. However, the cooks seem to be too opinionated about their screw up. But the management was very nice and she made all of the difference.

The name says it all if you like BBQ.Daily lunch specials are a great variety of choices.

First, why have signs saying mask required, but then allow people to stand in line and come to the window with none? The bbq chicken is dry. The bbq pork is very mediocre for a southern bbq restaurant. Staff needs to be friendlier too. This is my second try and i am sure it will be my last.

This used to be one of my favorite BBQ stops. Today it might be my last. I orders a large chopped plate. I couldn't tell if the pile of mush on my plate was meat or not. My coworker got the baked chicken daily special couldn't eat it. His plate looked like a pile of mush too. Dear owner, please spend more time in your restaurant. Properly train your kitchen staff especially how to chop BBQ, and lastly be there to ensure quality control.

I've been eating here loyally for fifteen years and taken every out of town guest here and beg others to forego other local joints. That "other" place doesn't hold a candle for the food. But honestly, I am tired of being corrected and yelled at by the dining room matron and listening to her correct and yell at others and complain about customers, the staff, and that the "floor hasn't been mopped in three years and they better not think she's gonna do it". I used to think it was quirky and a bit endearing, but now it just makes me cringe. It feels like a Seinfeld episode. You know which one.

I get take out about once a month. Staff is alright, I've had there pork, chicken and fish and a bunch of sides. Food is not bad at all. I think they need to be a little heavier on the portions. Thank you.

If you like fried chicken or barbecue this is your joint. The family owned restaurant offers a sit down or carryout country style cooking menu. Your food order is prepared while you wait or after being seated. The staff are very friendly and usually you leave with a "doggie" bag. Fresh vegetables which change daily, hushpuppies fresh out the grease, sweet tea or lemonade, desserts, and fried pork skins are all available options. Budget friendly or at least comparative prices to Bojangles, KFC, or Popeye's ! Highly recommend.

This spot is a pleasant surprise. In an older strip mall this bbq spot has a lot to offer. The table waitress takes great care of you in this no frills spot. So far, I have tried several different entres and have been pleased with each one of them.
